Rémi Meurice (Brest , 1990) SAX & FLUTE / ARRANGER & COMPOSER

 

Rémi Meurice is a saxophonist and composer from the South East of France where he began his musical career at the age of 16 playing at the Jazz Festival of Toulon, and receiving a scholarship for his composition work at SACEM (French authors and composers society).

 

He moved to Paris at the age of 20 where he collaborated as a

musician and composer on several albums with musicians such as Tricia Evy, Gerry Lopez, Mathilde and Julien Corriat. At that time, he also went on tour to Australia,Belgium, Italy, Morocco, Holland, and played all over France in Parisian venues such as Sunset/Sunside and Le Baiser Salé. He also played in festivals such as Wolfi jazz, Bulles Sonores de Limoux, Ferté sous Jouarre. He studied at the Superior National Conservatory of Paris (CNSMDP) and at the Superior Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona.

Throughout his career, he has formed several bands of jazz and world

music with whom he was able to write more than 70 compositions and

arrangements, from duo to big band.

 

Since 2014 where he moved to Catalonia, Rémi has collaborated to the recordings of several artists (Jonas Santana, Hugo Arán) and played numerous times in halls and festivals such as "Música als parcs" Barcelona, "Festival Pau Casals" el Vendrell, "Jamboree Jazz Club" Barcelona.

 

He plays and co-leads in several bands such as the WTF Big Band of the Jamboree, Izaura Quartet, Clazz, and a l'Ombra de Piazzolla. He works as well occasionally on cruise lines over the world as a wind player and arranger.

In June 2017, he published his first album ”Rencontre” with the jazz quartet REQI including 10 originals songs.

​

He is now working on new compositions and recordings, occasionally teaching, and parting his day with his passions for yoga, sea, travels, languages, cooking, reading, and wellness.
